Jack – Michigan
The beginning
of 2007 was a stressful time for Jack. He had multiple cancer
operations and on top of that, open-heart surgery. The bills were
overwhelming and the amount of paper work was staggering.
Frustrated
and confused, Jack decided to call HealthEquity for help. He wasn't
expecting miracles, but he was surprised and pleased when Jen, his
HealthEquity specialist, helped him solve his problems over the phone.
Jack
had undergone two identical operations for thyroid cancer. But the bill
for one operation was significantly higher than the other. Jen agreed
that there appeared to be likely savings and suggested HealthEquity
would have the bills reviewed. HealthEquity discovered an inappropriate
anesthesiologist bill and, after four days of negotiating with the
insurance company and the surgery clinic, Jack saved over $1,000.
Jen
kept Jack updated throughout the entire process. She explained the
complicated insurance processes to Jack's satisfaction and made certain
he was comfortable with every outcome.
Jen's actions are a good example of how HealthEquity helps you get the most out of every health care dollar you spend.
Suzanne - Utah
Suzanne was pregnant with her third child and sicker than she could ever
remember being. The prescription she had been given promised to help to
calm her nausea.
Suzanne and her husband Scott were new to
HealthEquity, so before having the prescription filled at the pharmacy,
Scott logged onto their HealthEquity personal desktop and did some
research. In a few clicks, he discovered that the prescription cost
more than $700 per month. Scott and Suzanne were extremely careful with
money and were stunned by the unaffordable price.
But Scott found several generic alternatives listed on the HealthEquity site. Suzanne
called her doctor and explained that she had a health savings account (HSA) and would prefer to
use a generic alternative. The doctor changed the prescription to one of the generics that cost only $12 saving Suzanne and Scott more than
$700.
Suzanne and Scott's story is typical of how HealthEquity can help you manage and spend your health care dollars.
Bruce - Ohio
HealthEquity is dedicated to helping our clients with every aspect of their health savings accounts, even if their problems are unusual.
While Bruce was preparing to file his 2008 taxes, he decided to make a last deposit
into his HSA. Though the deposit was made in
2009, he claimed it on his 2008 taxes. However, when he received the
paperwork from his insurer, it stated the deposit was for 2009. Bruce
immediately called his insurance company to find out where the mix up
had occurred.
His call was returned by Nathan, a HealthEquity
employee. Nathan explained that Bruce's insurance company had recently
switched HSA providers to HealthEquity. The mistake had taken place
when the account was being administered by the previous provider.
Nathan
contacted the previous provider and persuaded them to correct the
information and send new forms to Bruce. He stayed in contact with
Bruce until the problem was solved. Bruce was impressed that Nathan and
HealthEquity went above and beyond to fix the problem, even though they
had not been involved.
HealthEquity helped Bruce because our
dedication to our members doesn't stop at the easy problems or
“by-the-book” issues.
