HealthEquity® Balance Protection

Add Protection and Peace of Mind to Your HealthEquity® HSA Plan

Offering employees an HSA can help employers control health care costs. But too often employees only see the higher deductible that comes with an HSA-qualified plan rather than the potential savings.

Now, employers can give employees one less reason to worry about the higher deductible with HealthEquity® Balance Protection. It gives employees and their eligible dependents an added benefit if they have a hospital stay due to an accident.

How Balance Protection Works

Employees enrolled in a HealthEquity HSA and their family members covered by an employer’s HSA-qualified high-deductible health plan receive a daily benefit if an accident leads to a hospital stay. The benefit is contributed directly to their HealthEquity HSA, so they can maintain and grow their HSA balance or maximize tax savings on deductible and other eligible out-of-pocket expenses. They also have the option to receive payment directly by check and use the benefit to cover the everyday expenses of life, such as household bills or childcare.

Three benefit levels—Core, Select, and Plus—let employers choose the level they want to provide to employees at an affordable per employee per month cost. The chosen level applies to all employees enrolled in the company’s HealthEquity HSA plan.
